Hi there!

I’m writing this update from ROAM Coffee & Beer in sweet Bellingham, where I just finished installing a selection of 21 pieces for the month of September.

There was something oddly healing about selecting the art and arranging it on the walls of this lovely community space. It’s probably related to the fact that I lived in that neighborhood years ago in a distant chapter of life. It’s always nice to feel things coming full circle.

Many pieces that called to me for this collection are works I created before the covid era took us all on an existential ride, and others of them I pulled from the 55 paintings I created this spring at the Lookout Arts Quarry for my residency project PLASTIC ANGST.

I still owe you (and myself) a dedicated writeup and full photo gallery of that project. But for today it will have to wait—because there’s a lot going on! Let’s jump in.

ROAM is one of several locations I have installed work since my last update. Here’s the quick list:

A little peek inside one of the eclectic corners of CarreFour Marche

• CarreFour Marche (7300 Kickerville Road) now hosts 7 pieces of mine, and they curate lots of other interesting local art, oddities, and handmade goods. Visit them on Fridays or Saturdays, it’s worth the field trip! They are currently looking for artists to feature. More about them to come in a future update.
• Voxel Gallery is running a juried show dedicated to the upcoming Whatcom Artists Studio Tour. I have a solitary piece in the show. If you are interested in touring local artists’ workspaces come October (which I recommend!) it’s a good place to get a preview.
• I have just started collaborating with It’s About Time Cultural Arts Center in Ferndale who are featuring my work. I will be at the opening reception on First Friday where the Seasons of Change project will get unveiled. Maybe catch you there at some point between 4 and 7p.
• Doors for the Downtown Bellingham Partnership’s Gallery Alley will be flipped to the other side on Friday. There’s a month left on the auction to get your bids in.
• Make.Shift has an upcoming community-sourced group show called Substrate, and I’m putting the final touches on my piece for that show today. See the opening on First Friday. There will also be an awesome volunteer-run show opening in the underground gallery … more on that below.
• And not to be forgotten, I still have work up at The Bagelry, at The Vault Wine Bar in Blaine, and at the Jansen Art Center in Lynden.

About that Underground Make.Shift Show …

I’ve had the privilege of a front row seat as two artists’ passion projects intersected and evolved into a powerful and heartfelt show, The Lion’s Den, which will be launching on First Friday Art Walk in the Make.Shift Underground Gallery.

Do go pay them a visit this Friday at some point between 5 and 9 pm. It will be well worth your time.

The show will be up through November.

New portfolio who dis

Despite being asked about six times a day for two years “what’s your insta,” I still have managed not to cave and get back on Insta.

I did, however, finally admit to myself that keeping my portfolio entirely offline is not the long term strategy I am looking for.

I started an ongoing humungous gallery of works on the very handy Cara app. If you’ve ever wanted to scroll through my art to see what I’ve made or to show my work to friends, this is the place you can easily do that.

I’ve *only* loaded up somewhere around 75 of my art pieces so far. I’ll be building it out in tandem with building out my physical gallery space. In the meantime, peruse at your leisure.

I will have some more to share soon, including info about the first group showcase event at my studio/gallery. If you’re the kind to bookmark things way ahead of time, it’s going to be on October 23.
